Love Poetry

Love poems can be as vast and diverse in meaning and approach, as the type
s of poets that write each one. Every word, line, or rhyme, is a poet’s comment to society or to someone else, on the grounds of love. Most poets use experiences or events in their own life to draw inspiration from. A love poem can be a story told in verse, about the beauty of finding love. A poet can also take an awkward approach in regards to the idea of love. Many poets release their angst and rage when writing poems about love. Many poets also critique the subject of love. Whether these examples of untraditional poems about love are sparked by a personal revelation or failure, the reader may never know. However there is a good chance that if you feel something and write about it, someone else who eventually reads it will know what you went through. Perhaps a question could be raised about the purpose of love poetry. Does the love poem exist in order to generate a response by a reader, to express the poet’s emotion no matter how deep and twisted, only in hope that this poem will find another soul who can relate? Of course there can never be an answer for something so intangible, but it is possible that many readers base their views about love, on the poetry that they are reading.
